Shilling Canning Company presents “Bold But Bubbly”: A month-long program in honor of women in winemaking, past & present
Restaurant co-owner, Sara Quinteros-Shilling, celebrates Women’s History Month with a special book + champagne package and virtual book club discussion on March 31.
Sara Quinteros-Shilling, co-owner & director of business development at Shilling Canning Company, is celebrating Women's History Month with a special package and month-long program spotlighting women in winemaking through her recently-launched project, The Wine Shop at Shilling Canning Company.
A $65 package available to reserve via Tock includes a bottle of Veuve Clicquot and the paperback edition of The Widow Clicquot. The New York Times best-selling business biography of Barbe-Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin is the story of the young and widowed visionary who persevered through hardships and created what is now one of the most popular champagne houses in the world, Veuve Clicquot.
"Being a woman, a woman business owner, and especially a woman of color that is a business owner, is an endless journey of self-sacrifice, self-preservation, and self-promotion,” says Quinteros-Shilling. “The hurdles that women have jumped over have proven time and again what we're capable of accomplishing, and I'm excited to dive into this book and create conversations around perseverance and entrepreneurship. Calling attention to and celebrating women who are blazing their own trails, especially in our industry, are conversations that should happen always and not only during this month."
A limited number of $55 packages including both the book and champagne are available, first-come, first-served. The restaurant will host mini digital discussions throughout the month, culminating with a special closing event and optional tasting on March 31 in partnership with Moët Hennessy USA to discuss the book, Madame Clicquot’s legacy, and celebrate other women winemakers in Shilling Canning Company’s Wine Shop portfolio. Wine, spirits, and lifestyle writer Kelly Magyarics, DWS, will moderate the discussion. Details and special guests to be confirmed. Bold but Bubbly pick-ups will begin the week of March 8 in honor of International Women’s Day.
As an extension of the program, Shilling will be supporting Open Arms Housing, an organization whose mission is to provide housing to women suffering from homelessness and mental illness. Guests may purchase meals for the residents as well as drop off supplies (from an approved list) to Shilling Canning Company. Both meals and supplies will be delivered in April to residents of the housing programs.
For more details, and to reserve, visit Tock. Those who purchase the “Bold but Bubbly” package will receive a link for the book club meeting as part of their purchase.
