Caboose Commons to Host Springfest on April 17, 2021

The Merrifield favorite will host six breweries outdoors for a day of socially-distanced sips

Merrifield, VA (March 30, 2021)-- Caboose Commons is kicking off spring with their second annual beer festival Springfest on Saturday, April 17. The Mosaic District brewpub will be pouring tastes and gathering six other regional breweries including Alewerks, Right Proper, Väsen, Honor, Sinistral, and Rocket Frog, for a day of sublime tastings and socially distant “brewery hopping.”

Springfest gives beer fans one-on-one time with brewery owners and brewers from each of these popular local breweries in a speed dating-inspired set-up. Brewery representatives will spend 15 minutes with each table to lead guests through tastings; once the bell rings, a new (masked + socially distant) brewery heads to your table for the next delicious round of pours.

Springfest is rain or shine. Two-hour seatings begin at 12pm, 3pm, and 6pm and include 14 beer tastings per person and exclusive presentations with representatives from each brewery. Reserve a table for up to 4 or 8 guests here. Admission ranges from $200 (for a table for 4) to $360 (for a table for 8).

Springfest is also the perfect time to take home seeds to grow your own hops this summer and take part in the Virginia brewing community. Caboose just launched its second annual Community Hops project, which encourages beer lovers to grow their own rhizomes to be used in the brewery’s Pale Ale fall release. The collaboration -- with Flemings Hop Farm in Chesapeake, Wild Hog's Farm in Madison, and Murphy & Rude Malting in Charlottesville -- provides the opportunity to grow and mature hops; once harvested, they’ll be used in the fall release. Participating costs just $25 and includes a four-pack of the special brew once it’s finished. Virtual farming lessons will be provided by beer experts to help guests properly plant and grow their hops.

Hops planted by April will be harvested in September to be brewed and released in October.
