Quarantine Cleaning: Have We Gone Too Far?
Taking care of the environment we live in and around is always important. Whether we’re just tidying up, cleaning, organizing, refurbishing, or remodeling, it can have a positive impact on our health. Home Depot has reported an increase in sales due to an increase in “honey-can-do” projects (fix this, build that, repair this, remodel that). Trash bins are becoming overloaded with stuff that people are finally throwing out (their advice is to “slow down the Marie Kondo’ing”). Although I’m a bigger fan of donating things you no longer need, I know it’s not possible right now—- so why not finally get your place in order?
I don’t think we’ve gone too far, but I’m also not seeing what everyone is buying, rebuilding, reorganizing, nor how everyone is going about it. I am a fan of a clean, tidy, organized living space.
Now is the time to get your space in order. I know, that for many years, I always told myself that, if I had more time at home (or an extra day added to the week), I’d do this-and-that at home. I’m sure I’m not alone in this sentiment. Most of what I was thinking about was doing/folding/putting away laundry, organizing my spice cabinet, re-organizing my closet, minimalizing what is in my laundry room, tossing the stuff that has been in boxes for years, etc.
I’ve done most of what I wanted to accomplish in my short-run as this is now my (almost) 4th month in self-quarantine, but I thought it would be worthwhile to share all of the ideas I came across online!
These photos are screenshots, so my apologies for not having the click-through links available to you, but I hope you enjoy these anyway!
