Mestiza NY: The Georgiana Gown in Jade Chinoiserie

I had the honor of being featured on Mestiza New York and wanted to share this short article with you. Mestiza NY’s dresses are absolutely gorgeous and I wore their stunning new release, the Georgiana Gown in Jade Chinoiserie. Check out the blog on their site below!

This gown, the Georgiana, comes in two styles/colors: Jade Chinoiserie (the one I am wearing) and Blue Chinoiserie. It features a fully lined bodice with an invisible back zipper entrance and is crafted in chinoiserie jacquard. The ruffled hem is light-weight enough to spin in and heavy enough to feel like a queen in her robe.

Liz Strom, Professional Life/Career Coach and Double Organ Transplant Survivor

Posted on 06 April 2021

This week's Tastemaker Tuesday features Liz Strom, professional life and career coach based in Washington, DC.

Introduce yourself!

Hi! I’m Liz! I’m a Professional Life/Career Coach, Founder of Creative Calm Solutions LLC and espressofied™, Producer of The Goddess Workshop, Director of “Xccelerate: Entrepreneurs Moving Forward”, caffeinated blogger, lifestyle content curator, positive influence(r), in-demand speaker, double organ transplant survivor, and Crohn’s warrior.

What characteristics (cultural, personality, etc) make you unique?

I’m of mixed ethnicities (mestiza!) and very paradoxical in my ways. I'm soft and strong. I'm fierce and flexible. I'm fun and playful, as well as hard-working and focused. I'm light-hearted and feel deeply. I'm a survivor and a connector. I love people and discovering new things, as well as nurturing relationships dear to me. I am so very grateful for what I have.

What motivated you to start Goddess Support and espressofied™?

GoddessSupport is a page dedicated to my annual workshop, The Goddess Workshop. The Goddess Workshop was developed to help women feel more in touch with themselves in an ever-changing, ever-evolving world. It's nourishment for the mind, heart, body, and soul by bringing clarity, purpose, and mindfulness in fun ways.

What is the most rewarding aspect of what you do?

I love seeing people get excited after helping them!

How do you interpret “invest in yourself?” and what are the types of things you do to invest in/ empower yourself?

Investing in oneself, to me, means to provide for one's well-being. It can be synonymous with self-care. I invest in myself in many ways: diving into self-development books/courses, my skincare regimen, making sure I get enough rest (setting boundaries so that I sleep enough hours), carving out time to explore my city, etc.

Why is it important to you to empower women?

For too long, women have not been seen as (nor treated as) equal to men. As a result, we have more hurdles to jump over and self-confidence imbalances to work through. When we cheer each other on, we empower one another to keep going. It is essential to the positive development of families, communities, and countries for women to feel safe, fulfilled, and productive lives.

What draws you to the Mestiza brand?

Mestiza dresses are not only created absolutely breathtakingly, but they're also created with legacy in mind. I loved reading of the founders' reasons for developing the brand and admire their mission.

How did you like your Mestiza piece? Any details on how it fit or made you feel?

I love my Mestiza Jade Georgiana gown. It's feminine, beautiful, and playful. The bodice is cut perfectly and the gown's high-low ruffled hem makes me feel royal as well as flirty.

Please share an inspirational tip to someone looking to follow in your footsteps:

Focus on your "why". When you think about your "why" (your mission for starting your own business and helping others), you will be able to weather the storms of owning your own business.
