Brunch in Washington, D.C. at Maialino Mare

Maialino Mare offers delicious brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am-2 pm. It’s located in the Yards Park area of DC on the ground level of one of my favorite hotels, The Thompson DC.

As listed on their site:
"Maialino Mare is a Roman-style trattoria with an emphasis on seafood pastas and fish— a coastal sister to the original Maialino restaurant opened in New York City in 2009. Sourced from its local family of farmers and fishers, Maialino Mare uses quality, seasonal ingredients throughout the menu, complemented by a robust Italian wine list and beautiful, rustic desserts.

Executive Chef Rose Noel draws inspiration from Roman trattorias to create seasonally inspired Italian fare that celebrates our relationships with local farmers and fishers."

Maialino Mare’s Italian-inspired menu is delightful. Our🥂food and drinks were perfectly prepared and scrumptious, the service is outstanding, tables are spread out nicely, and natural light floods the dining area during the daytime (big, beautiful windows!)

What we ordered:
·Brunch specialty drinks:
···The “GARIBALDI” (Campari, Fluffy Orange Juice)
··· The “RIVERWALK SPRITZ” (Aperol, Limoncello, Prosecco, Thyme)
·Olive Oil Muffin (freshly made in-house)
·Caccio e Pepe: Soft Scrambled Eggs, Pecorino, Black Pepper (perfectly prepared)
·Cotechino: Fried Egg, Pork Sausage, Foccacia, Arugula (my husband’s choice)
·Ricotta Pancakes with Maple Syrup (delightful and very filling)

(My husband and I were full for the duration of the day and didn’t have to eat another bite until the next day!)

You can make your reservations online or by calling the restaurant. Brunch is available on Saturdays + Sundays from 10 am-2 pm.
