Art of Attraction: Perfumes, Colognes, & Scents

What are your favorite perfumes / colognes (or scents)?
We asked, and you answered!

We compiled a list and slightly dissected the results. Some participants gave us multiple answers and some gave us general scents they love (non-perfume’ish)— and we’ve included them all.

Some perfumes were strictly created for women and some colognes were created for men. There are also some designers that create scents for both men and women (#delish)!

Do you have a favorite perfume / cologne / scent? Comment below and let us know!

Personally, I’m a big fan of Creed ($$$), Commodity Gold ($$$), Pinrose ($$), and warm vanilla.

As I sit in my chair typing this to you, I’m wearing deodorant (Secret Clinical-Strength Stress Response), DryBar’s Triple Sec (3-in-1 hair spray), and vanilla lip butter on my lips. Put these together with the fragrance of my clothing (dryer sheets), and I don’t think I could really use perfume right now. I’m all about subtle fragrances that work for my skin’s chemistry otherwise!

As a few Facebook friends put it:
”I always try a new scent out on myself first before I buy. Some smells are good alone, but when it’s on ya it smells awful. Also, I hate when folks drench themselves with a scent and it ends up stinking the whole place up. It’s all about subtlety. Just a tiny spray goes a long way. Ya wanna make yourself smell a little better, not the whole entire building.”

”People need to learn what goes with their chemistry. Perfume or cologne should not stink up a room, an elevator . Do not marinate in the damn stuff be considerate to people with allergies. If it stinks up a room means it is not for you. Find one that enhances your chemistry. And for god’s sake, don't put on so much before a flight!”

”Just because it smells good in a bottle, doesn’t mean it will smell good on you.”

…and I mostly agree.
I’m that “Ah, let them do whatever they want to do” kind of person.
Until you put me in an elevator with someone who’s bathed in 3 bottles of whatever they’re wearing, and the elevator suddenly gets stuck. IMO, scents should be subtle. Some people get used to the scents they wear, cannot tell how much they’re wearing over time, and go crazy during the application process.

It also depends how strong the perfume is, too. Is it an eau de parfum (concentrated), eau de toilette (less concentrated), solid perfume, or body oil (usually subtle)? This matters.

Complement yourself with what works for you!

So… what do you have on today?
